G.I. Jobs Magazine Names BCI a Military Friendly School for 2010

Blackstone Career Institute was recently selected by G.I. Jobs Magazine as a Military Friendly School for 2010 in honor of the school’s efforts to support military students and their families. After conducting extensive research and gathering survey data, the military magazine ranked BCI in the top fifteen percent of all colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide. G.I. Jobs recognized our interest in recruiting military students and encouraged BCI to continue expanding upon existing policies and efforts used to obtain and retain military and veteran students.

Many of our students are from military families and find that our training programs can easily travel with them through deployments and relocations in the U.S. and overseas. Blackstone is a participant in several programs that benefit military personnel and their family members, including the Army Vocational/Technical (AVOTEC) Soldier Program, Operation Life Transformed (OLT), DANTES (Defense Activity for Nontraditional Educational Support), and the Military Spouse Career Advancement Initiative program. For more information about these programs, visit our Military Families Web page.

Blackstone is Honored by Commerce Association

Blackstone Career Institute has been honored by United States Commerce Association’s (USCA) “Best of Local Business” Award Program, which recognizes companies that have achieved exceptional marketing success in their region. Blackstone received the 2009 Best of Emmaus Award for enhancing the positive image of small businesses through service to our customers and local community. Recently, we relocated from Emmaus to Allentown, PA, but we have continued to uphold the same standards that were responsible for our selection by the USCA.

The USCA chose Blackstone based on research that focused on quality and excellence. Winners were selected by referencing information gathered by the organization as well as by data collected from third parties. The USCA’s goal is to promote local business through public relations, marketing, and advertising.

Students Give BCI the Thumbs-Up!

Near the conclusion of their course, Blackstone students are encouraged to return a Student Satisfaction Survey and respond to 14 questions about their educational experience with BCI. These surveys have shown that our students are overwhelmingly pleased with their studies. In fact, 97% of those who responded answered “yes” to “Would you recommend these studies to a friend?” 95% of surveyed students said that, overall, they were satisfied with their studies. And 93% answered “yes” to the question “Did you achieve, or will you have achieved upon completing your studies, the goals you had when you started the program?” Blackstone encourages all of its students to submit their survey (found within one of the final study guides for each course): your feedback is important in guiding the development of our programs!

Did You Know?

If you have considered furthering your education, Blackstone Career Institute may provide the perfect opportunity for you. Not only are the online programs offered by BCI flexible and affordable, but they are also conducted using one of the most effective learning methods.

In June, the U.S. Department of Education released a study that illustrated the benefits of online education. Researchers found that, “on average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.” To gather data, the Education Department used a meta-analysis – one that takes all of the existing studies into account and analyzes them for patterns and conclusions that be drawn upon for an accumulation of evidence.

More and more adult learners are seeing the benefits of online education and are flocking to distance learning institutions. According to a 2008 study conducted by Sloan Consortium, an organization dedicated to supporting online education, in the fall of 2007, approximately 3.9 million students were taking at least one Internet course – a twelve percent increase from fall 2006.

Join the millions of others who have found success in online learning. Enroll with Blackstone today and work towards a career as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, Medical Transcriptionist, Medical Biller/Coder, Medical Office Assistant, or Dental Office Assistant. Use the links below to learn more.
